How to Earn Lots of Credit Card Points and Miles
There are MANY ways to earn credit card points – you may be surprised at how quickly they add up!
- Welcome bonuses – this is the fastest way to earn tons of credit card points
- You open a card and meet the minimum spend requirement in a set amount of time (ie 60,000 points for $5000 spend in 3 months)
- Category bonuses – where do you spend your money? Groceries, restaurants, travel?
- Each reward credit card has its own set of multipliers in specific categories. For example, Chase Sapphire Preferred earns 3x points on dining and 2x on travel.
- Some cards earn 2x everywhere – great for non-category spend – think summer camps and medical bills. My favorites include Citi Double Cash and Capital One Venture cards.
- Shopping portals – do you shop online?
- For example – Start by going to the Chase Ultimate Rewards shopping portal and search for GAP (or any other online store). When you are directed to the online store and complete your purchase you get a multiplier of Chase Ultimate Rewards points back… REGARDLESS of which credit card you use.
- Friend Referrals – do you want to share this hobby with others?
- This one is great – because it requires ZERO spend
- Find the referral links in your credit card account – send to a friend and if they get approved, you get a bonus. This can be as high as 10,000 points.
- BTW – your friend can be your significant other and this will help your household earn more points.
